If you’ve never owned an Apple computer, you don’t know what you’re missing. On the other hand, if you regularly use Macintosh computers, you understand that once you have a Mac, you’ll never go back. An Apple Macintosh – whether it’s a MacBook, a Mac Pro, or an iMac – takes personal computing to a whole new level. I bought my first iMac in 1998, have upgraded twice, and am still happy as a proverbial clam. Here, then are five reasons to love the Apple Macintosh.

1. Cool elegance. If there’s one thing Steve Jobs knows how to do, it’s designing electronics that are ultra-cool yet beautifully elegant. Why have a cumbersome big box desktop computer when you can have everything you need in an elegant iMac? Behind that clear, bright 16:10 aspect ratio monitor is the entire computer, including a DVD drive and a 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo processor. There’s even a webcam built into the iMac so you can video chat or video conference whenever the whim strikes.

2. Intuitive functionality. Even though Windows copied the friendly desktop interface from Apple Macintosh, they still haven’t been able to get it right. Navigating the Mac’s interface is truly intuitive, engaging, and just downright fun. With a mobile computing product like the MacBook, you can take full computing functionality wherever you go. And, wherever you’ll go, you’ll always be connected, since the MacBook automatically finds nearby wireless networks and gives you nearly instant online access.

3. Digital living. Macintosh computers are designed to embrace the digital lifestyle. MacBooks and iMacs come with iLife, a wonderful array of applications that let you effortlessly share photo albums, record podcasts and songs, and even create and edit movies. You can even publish your creations on the Web with a single click. How cool is that?

4. Bug-free. If you’ve been wrestling with Vista the past few months (or any other Windows operating system, for that matter), you don’t know the meaning of freedom. Macintosh computers’ operating systems are bug-free, and as for upgrades, you get to choose when to receive software update notifications, and always have the choice of updating now or in the future. Mac simply isn’t intrusive; you get to control technology, instead of having technology control you.

5. Workhorse. Macintosh computers are more than a way to frolic in your spare time. They’re also workhorses. For years, graphic artists and publishers have almost exclusively used Macs for work. With the Mac Pro, you can get Adobe Creative Suite 3, a suite of tools specifically designed for creative professionals. Whether you’re a web designer, a graphic artist, an art director, or a video professional, Adobe Creative Suite 3 will make your work easier, better, and more fun.

There are those who say that Macintosh computers are limited in that much of the available software is only compatible with PCs. My experience is that my Mac can do anything a PC can do – and do it better. But for those diehards who insist that they can’t live without Windows, the next version of Mac OSX, Leopard, will allow you to install Windows XP on the Mac. Right now, you can run Windows in emulation mode…although for the life of me, I don’t understand why you would want to!

I have heard about discussions in forums regarding the speculated next-generation Apple iPhone 3G for a few weeks. And of course back then I thought it was just hoax, hypes made by iPhone’s fanatics. How wrong was I. After a few weeks of conjecture, surmise; a few debatable postulations and endless guesstimate…Apple finally stepped out announced the advent of the new iPhone 3G Sat the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco. Although it resembles the same design as its older sibling-iPhone 3G, the new, revamped iPhone 3G S is armed with a host of improvement that users have been asking for such as the copy, cut and paste function plusMMS support for sending multimedia files in the likes of photos and video clips.

So what does the extension “S” stands for? According to Apple it simply denotes “speed” as they have made some really significant fixes and improvements to their latest arsenal both hardware and software. Here’s what Apple iPhone 3G S could give you: offer double-dose of the speed and performance compared to its stone age brother. Meaning that now you can renderwebpages quicker and launch your applications faster.

Besides that, the iPhone 3G S will also have the new iPhone OS3.0 update in its hood that will feature notable enhancements such as Spotlight Search, landscape keyboard across multiple applications and of course the much-yearned copy and paste functionality. What else? Well…this iPhone 3G S will also take advantage of the OpenGL 2.0 standard that enable developers to create amazing looking 3d graphics mobile games for both the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Now let’s move on to the iPhone 3G S’s hardware “department”. Now this baby comes with a 3-MegaPixel autofocus camera with video-recording capabilities. The autofocus feature will allow users to “tap to focus”…which means when you can touch the display screen to select which area you wish to focus on. Neat! Users can also record VGA quality videos at 30 frames per second and even tweak their images on the phone. Plus the video feature also makes sharing video clips via e-mail, MMS and Youtube looks like ABC.

Here’s something new: voice control. Now users can control their iPhone simply by speaking to it. Wow! So now this sleek new iPhone can detect your voice? Holding down the home button brings up the new voice control interface. Using this feature, users can say a contact’s name to make a call, play songs and even ask iPhone what song is being played. Great. This phone is aimed to make lazier. Then again…can the phone recognises all the different ascent?

Other whistles and bells added are the digital compass that will work in tandem with the default maps application, integrated support for Nike Plus and hardware encryption for protecting your private information. Another noteworthy refinement made is the improved battery life. So you can now enjoy your iPhone longer before plugging for recharge. Sounds like plenty of new features to toy around with this iPhone!

I wonder if those so-called proud iPhone owners who snatched up the old iPhones from Maxis weeks ago will feel the pinch. Man, if I were them I will damn freaking cheated by Maxis. It’s like they are trying to shackled us to sign with them by using an old “bait”. But well…they are too late. Perhaps Maxis will let them trade in their “old” iPhones for the new ones. So who has the last laugh? Hahaha :D

Apple said the iPhone 3G S will be available in USA in another week’s time (i.e. 19th June 2009) at a suggested retail price of ONLY US$199 (RM697) for the 16GB model and US$299 (Rm1047) for the 32 GB model. What the…this is ridiculously cheap compared to the old ones…And these new iPhone 3G S will land on our shores next month.

Boy! I really can’t wait to get my hands on this iPhone!!! Rm700 is not expensive. All this while I thought Apple’s products are only for those uptown folks. (Again) How wrong was I. Maybe it’s time to upgrade my old Nokia? I have been a Nokia fan all my life. This looks like a wind of change…an imminent one…Will Nokia be dethroned?

10 Facts You Didn’t Know About iPhone 3G S
1. It?s A Resistant
It seems that the iPhone 3G S has a highly-resistant finish to its body. Likewise the old iPhone 3G would succumb to those gadget kryptonites-which is water and oil-the new iPhone 3G S has a water- and oil-resistant body. Now that’s a real plus huh! So you can bring it into the swimming pool and kitchen?

2. Same! Same! Same!
The iPhone 3G S is exactly the same measurement, size and shape as the old iPhone 3G (although it is 2g heavier!). This means is all your existing accessories will work with it. Handy, no? You don’t have to fork out another few hundred bucks.

3. Photo Prodigy!
Taking photos with the iPhone 3G S? Yeah, of course right? 3MP! Cleverly, it knows how close you are to your subject, and automatically switches to ?Macro Mode? when they?re around 10cm away. Great for papping celebs when they?re right up in your face! And great for snapping your food photos to remind you how hungry you are.

4. Apple?s Remote Headphones Included
Along with the iPhone 3G S you get Apple?s own earphones, complete with the multi-button remote, which has a single control key and volume controls, and a mic. So Apple is being generous huh!

5. Video Editing: Beware
Editing any video you have captured actually destroys everything you throw away. Once that ?rubbish? has gone you can never get it back. So be careful. You have been warned! Maybe Edison Chen has requested for this feature?

6. iMemorize
The latest iPhone 3G S, like your Mac, will remember (memorize) all the text that you?veentered into websites, so there?s no need to repeatedly enter e-mail addresses, postal addresses or usernames, which is a brilliant when you?ve only got a touchscreen to work with (no matter how good the iPhone?s is). A good way to compensate for its shortcoming no?

7. More Than Words
The new Voice Control feature on the iPhone 3G S understands full sentences, and even dictated phone numbers. OMG! So you can say ?what song is this?? for example. Or ?play more songs like this?, and the iPhone 3G S will understand you. My, this iPhone sounds very smart…

8. Lost Season S
The iPhone 3G S has a eye-catching digital compass, and it doesn?t just work in Google Maps. Ha :D Discrimination. You see Apple has built a new Compass app, which can switch between true north and magnetic north, as well as using GPS to give users full coordinates. Double tapping the location icon in Google Maps spins the map to be the right way round. Who needs the scouts? Well, you need it when the battery runs out.

9. iRespect iPhone 3G S
Why? There are a number of new features on the iPhone 3G S that make it highly accessible for disabled users. Bravo Apple! The VoiceOver function, for instance, lets the iPhone 3G S read out what?s on screen. It?s much more accessible for partially sighted users as well, thanks to a new high-contrast white-on-black display option, and a zoom feature that springs into action when the screen is double-tapped with three fingers. And for anyone who can only hear in one ear, the iPhone 3G S can even be set to ?mono audio? mode.

10. Nike+ iPhone=NiPhone?
Built-in Nike+ support means the iPhone 3G S will be a hit with fitness fans. If you?ve already got the sensor to slip into your trainer, then you can hit the tarmac stat. If not? Well there?s plenty of other stuff in the iPhone 3G S to keep you occupied. I must get this!!!
